Easiest Way to Rip DVDs?

If you need to rip a DVD, there’s a program that makes it really simple.

It’s called MediaCopy, and they let you rip any DVD, BluRay, or even YouTube video straight to your PC.

This is great because you can play it on your computer, laptop, cellphone, iPod, iPad, or anything that plays videos.

You can convert it to MPG, MP4, AVI, or tons of other video formats.

Hope this helps,

Make sure to drop a comment and let me know how it works for you :)

How to Copy DVD to Hard Drive (DVD Ripping)

Many people out there don’t know that the term “ripping” simply means to copy something from a disc to a hard drive.

The main reason why the phrase exists is to differentiate itself from burning a DVD or CD to another (new) disc – making a duplicate.

There are a few ways that you can copy DVD to hard drive.  The way you choose should depend on what you are trying to rip.

The first is to use software specifically designed for that purpose.  This is necessary if you’re trying to copy a movie or video to your hard drive.  Because it has very particular files that have to be copied and transferred in a certin way, you need software that can do it for you.  Also, many files have to be converted so that you can play it on your computer.  This is why you simply can’t copy and paste the data to your hard drive.

Most DVD burning tools come with this capability already, so you don’t really have to look for a specific program to rip the DVD.  Any burning tools should allow you to do this (although we do recommend one particular tool above, as it does everything you’d ever need regarding burning, ripping, or copying data from a CD/DVD/BluRay.)

If you are trying to copy data or straight music files, then you can normally copy and paste it.  Just locate your CD/DVD’s drive in a file explorer and select all, then paste it where you want it to be placed.  Keep in mind though, that if the DVD has been burned in a way where the music plays back on a regular CD player, you might not be able to do this in this manner.  You may need to use software much like the one used for copying DVDs.

The third method to rip a DVD to your hard drive is to use screen capture technology.  What you would do is record your screen and play whatever files you want to be saved.  This is a very crude way of doing it, but it works if you don’t have the software needed to copy the files for you.  The quality won’t be nearly as good, but it’s definitely an option and should be used as a last resort.  Always remember to only copy DVDs that you own, as making illegal copies and giving them out can get you into major trouble.

We recommend using a software program like the one we’ve mentioned in the post above this one.  For more information check out their website.

Hope this helps!

How to Rip DVD Q&A

Hey there.  If you’re trying to rip a DVD to your hard drive (or to another device,) then this short article will  go over a few of the basics.  Let’s get into it below to find out how to rip DVDs to your computer.

1. What’s the fastest way to rip a DVD?

Using software that’s specifically designed to do so.  There are tons of programs available, but I would stay away  from the free ones. They’re usually riddled with bugs and glitches (as well as possibly containing viruses that  mess up your computer.)  Get an inexpensive one that has a guarantee, so that you can’t go wrong.

2. How long does it take to rip a DVD?

Usually it takes like an hour or something.  You can leave it going in the background though.  However, with more  and more powerful computers coming out each year, it can probably be done in 20 minuets on the right PC.  It  doesn’t take all day, though, if that’s what you’re wondering.

3. Is it illegal to learn how to rip DVDs?

Nope.  Just don’t give them out to your friends.  As I mentioned before, it’s perfectly acceptable to back up your  DVD or transfer it to a format that you can use to play it for yourself.  Don’t go out handing them to your  buddies, though.  That’s a big no-no.

4. How is the quality after I have ripped the DVD?

With good software it remains authentic.  The HD quality should be the same, as well as the audio (even surround  sound!)  If you’re using a program that messes with the HD look, or even the audio quality, I would try something  else.

5. I want subtitles.  Can I rip a DVD with the subtitles showing?

Again, with high quality programs, you can.  It’s pretty simple – you just check the box on subtitles.  Look for  this feature on the program that I personally recommend, as it includes the feature for free.

6. I got a virus from a free program I tried, what do you recommend to remove it?

I tried a few different malware removers and I found that Hitman Pro worked great.  It’s cloud based, so anything  that it doesn’t recognize gets uploaded and analyzed.  It has a 30-day free trial, and it works to remove all the  annoying bugs.  IF you have an actual virus I would recommend the Microsoft Security Essentials – a free anti-virus  program that you can download.

7. What if I want to burn the DVD to a CD or another DVD disc?

The best programs that I recommend allow you to back up your Blu Ray, DVD, or even HD DVD to your hard drive.   After that you can burn it to a new disc (even a CD if you use a different format,) so you can transfer your DVDs  to a Blu Ray disc, or a Blu Ray to a DVD disc, etc.  This is great if you have a Blu Ray player in your room, and  say a DVD player in your living room.  You can convert it, essentially, so that you can play it on your other  player.

How to Rip DVD Tips

There are tons of reasons why people learn how to rip DVDs to their hard drives.  The first is probably to make  sure the DVD itself doesn’t get destroyed, since you can play all of your movies straight on your computer.  The  second is convenience – you don’t have to get up and put any of the discs into your computer to play it.  And the  third is probably because you can transfer that DVD to video players, cell phones, and everything else that you can  take with you.

Finding out how to rip DVDs on your own isn’t exactly straight forward.  The DVD format is pretty strange and has  to be transferred into a more common file format.  Luckily there are many programs today that do everything for  you, including converting the format to something more playable.  The best DVD ripping programs actually have tons  of formats that you can choose from (as well as shrinking the size for you if you’re putting it on a cell phone or  something,) so that should be really helpful.

The only downside to ripping a DVD is all the viruses that are packed into this “section” of the Internet.  Tons of  software makers actually pile their programs full of mal-ware, spy ware, and ad-ware that will destroy or harm your  computer.  Always make sure that you are downloading a program that is good and safe to use.  Checking reviews is  most likely the best way to make sure what you’re using is safe, and we’ll also recommend a program in the near  future that you can use safely.

Once you do find one that you like, simply download it and follow the instructions.  It should be very straight  forward, but most times you have to choose what you want the software to do.  For example, you may be able to make  a copy of the DVD, Blu-Ray, or even HD DVD.  You may also be able to rip any of those into specific formats – but  don’t get overwhelmed.  Just look for the rip function and choose what format is best for you.  (Mp4 is great, AVI  is great – I would stick to these two as they’re very common and can be played by most devices.)

Trust me, nothing is worse than copying the DVD to your player and finding out that you need a codec or something  to play it.  Use the common formats so that you never run into this issue (and, of course, test it!)

Also, remember that copying and giving out DVDs is illegal.  Don’t learn how to rip DVDs just to give them to your  friends.  The only reason you should be backing up DVDs is to play it for yourself, and/or to protect the original  from scratches and misuse.

I hope this helps a bit.  Keep checking back because pretty soon we’ll have a program that you can download to show  you how to rip DVDs to your hard drive automatically.  That post should be above this one, so if there isn’t  anything above this one, then it isn’t posted yet.

Thanks for visiting today, and remember to be careful with what you download.
